Where Meanings Collide: A Conversation on Abstraction brings together artists Olga Tobreluts and Ivan Plusch in a dynamic visual dialogue about how we see—and unsee—the world. Moving between painting and digital animation, the exhibition explores the fragile line between recognition and non-recognition, reality and virtual experience.

Drawing on a century of abstract art while speaking directly to today’s media-saturated lives, the artists trade forms, colours, and motifs across canvases and screens. Figures dissolve into pure movement, colour fields flicker with “informational traces,” and black appears as both void and portal, marking moments where time, memory, and meaning seem to reset.

Rather than offering a single viewpoint, Where Meanings Collide invites visitors into an open-ended conversation. Each work becomes a site of negotiation between the artists’ distinct visions and the viewer’s own perceptions, asking: When do we truly recognize an image—and when are we simply filling in the gaps?

  • Designed for preschool-aged children, ArtStart combines storytime and hands-on art activities that spark imagination and build confidence. Each weekly session encourages creativity, visual learning, and social skills in a fun, supportive setting—with class sizes limited to just 10 children for individual attention.

Parents and caregivers are invited to join the fun as little artists explore, create, and connect.

    Tuesdays at 10:15 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.
RSVP required via Eventbrite. If the session is full, call 281-376-6322 to be added to the waitlist.

  • The Pearl School of Art is dedicated to nurturing creativity and cultivating a lifelong appreciation for the arts. In our studios, students explore a variety of projects and techniques designed to build skill, confidence, and artistic expression.

With small class sizes and passionate learners, we’re able to offer a more personal and in-depth teaching experience. Whether you’re a beginner discovering your creative voice or an experienced artist refining your craft, the Pearl School of Art welcomes you to learn, create, and grow with us.
