Youth Art Council

The Youth Art Council (YAC) is a group of high school students from Northwest Houston who collaborate with the Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Arts to create programs designed by teens, for teens. Members meet monthly to learn about museum operations, event planning, marketing, and fundraising while developing their own creative projects. Applications for the 2026–2027 school year are open now! See below to submit an application today!

Interested in learning about some of the exciting work we’ve been doing?

Application, Letter of Recommendation, and Interview

Wait to hear from us for an interview or reach out to us at laura@everydaycharming.com to ensure your application was received. During the interview, we will be wanting to get to know you better.

It also gives you an opportunity to clarify any questions you have before committing to the YAC. We would also like to hear your thoughts on your competency, enthusiasm, and willingness to work.

As a teen, have you ever watched someone in a leadership role absolutely crush it — whether they’re introducing themselves with confidence, leading great conversations, speaking in public, fundraising, building a network, or planning an event that everyone talks about?

Most of us feel nervous about some of those things. Maybe you’re already strong in one or two areas, but very few high school students have mastered them all.

This is your chance to change that.

The Youth Arts Council (YAC) is equal parts leadership master-class and hands-on community impact. You’ll spend a full year sharpening real-world skills in a creative, supportive environment.

By the end of it, you will have accomplishments you can use to help you stand out for your college and scholarship applications. And you will have skills you can use in college, a future career in business, engineering, the arts, or anywhere else.

We’re looking for collaborative, self-disciplined high school students who want to take an active role in making a real difference. This is not a passive club. You’ll share ideas, complete trainings, lead projects, and turn plans into action. Because the group is intentionally small (maximum 15 members), every single person will hold a real leadership position. Your effort will matter. If you’re ready to show up, step up, and truly contribute, this could be the most valuable experience of your high school years.

And it qualifies as a Capstone Community Service Project!
