March 16 @ 2:30 pm - 3:30 pm

Artist Lecture: Caroline Roberts, Photographic Process Artist

Join us at the Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Arts for a look into the process and artistic practice of Caroline Roberts featuring her new exhibition Rooted in Rock on view during the month of March, 2024 in collaboration with 2024 FotoFest. Dive into the world of her work as Caroline shares her unique techniques to create cyanotype and lumen prints. The lecture is free to attend and registration is required on eventbrite. If the event is sold out on eventbrite email [email protected].

During opening hours on March 16th also see floral interpretations of the artwork on display in the museum by the Society of Advancement of Floral Design. Floral installation will be on view from 10am to 5pm.

Rooted in Rock encourages viewers to consider the tactile nature of rocks that connect us with our physical world. The carefully arranged and layered rock cyanotypes draw inspiration from Japanese dry gardens. Layers of rock impressions are stitched together with thread representing tree roots wrapping around boulders within nature. The work evokes meditation and reflection as we associate roots and rocks with memories of place and time. “
