The Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Arts is pleased to announce its 2013 Student Art Contest. The purpose of the contest is to recognize the artistic achievements of our area students and to increase community involvement in the museum.
All public, private, and home school students in grades 1-12 from the following school districts are encouraged to participate: Aldine ISD, Conroe ISD, Cy-Fair ISD, Klein ISD, Magnolia ISD, Spring ISD, and Tomball ISD. Contestants from private schools located in and home school students residing in the above districts are also invited to participate.
2012 Contest
We had an extremely successful Student Art Contest and Juried Exhibition this spring. Out of 225 entries, the Pearl recognized 28 student artists, 12 place winners and 16 in the Juried Exhibition. In response to the increasingly strained school district budgets, the entry fees for the 2012 Student Art Contest were waived. Contest expenses, such as the awards, printing of the contest brochure, and jurors’ fees, were completely funded by museum supporters and community members.
2013 Contest
Most contest rules will remain the same as 2012, except for a few small changes.
1) Please do not submit any framed artwork. Works on paper should be matted. Canvas boards or stretched canvas do not need to be matted.
2) Private and home school may only submit up to 20 entries per school or home school teacher.
3) Entries no longer need to remain anonymous and unsigned. The Pearl hires independent jurors usually from outside the contest area and the chance for conflict of interest is rare.
