1935-2010 Pearl Lilley Fincher Pearl Lilley Fincher joined her husband and parents in Heaven on June 3, 2010 after a brief, but brave battle against pancreatic cancer. On April 23, 1935, Pearl was born to Selma and Hubert Lilley in Evergreen, Texas; one of 11 children. Her Baptist preacher father taught her about strong faith and generosity. Her mother taught her the importance of doing whatever was needed to take care of her family. In 1953, Pearl moved to Houston/Spring, Texas where she lived until her death.
An astute business woman, Pearl was the co-founder of Fred Fincher Motors, and throughout her business career, she owned and operated several businesses. Yet, her most joyous work was caring for her children, and she gave her family, which included many close friends, a love that few people get to experience.
Pearl Fincher encouraged her children to be self-sufficient and leaders in their communities. She taught by example when she combined her leadership abilities with her love of politics to serve as President of Northwest Forest Republican Women from 1999-2000. As a principled woman, she also gave strong support to help good, honest people get elected to public office. Her political involvement offered the opportunity to attend several inaugurations, including President Ronald Reagan, President George H.W. Bush and a number of Texas Governors. One of her proudest moments was the swearing-in ceremony of her daughter, Patricia Harless, as State Representative District 126.
Pearl knew that God had blessed her greatly, and she worked hard to give back to the community with service on the boards of American Heart Association, the Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Arts, the Tomball Regional Arts Committee and The Centrum Arts. Additionally, through her work with the Lone Star College Foundation, she fulfilled her desire to help provide an education to students who could not afford it. Pearl Fincher truly lived her belief, "To whom much is given, much is required".
Pearl is preceded in death by her parents; her stepdaughter, Teresa Spicer; and the love of her life, Fred Fincher, Sr. She is survived by her 6 natural children; daughters Vicki Brown & husband Red and Patricia Harless & husband Sam; sons Donald Fincher & wife Debbie, Roger Hess & wife Yvonne, Adrian Fincher and John Fincher; 2 stepsons Jay Fincher & wife Mary and Andy Fincher & wife Dixie. Pearl also has 44 grandchildren, including spouses, and 39 great-grandchildren at last count, with 2 more on the way! Jackie Powell and Karla Hickman are considered "not by birth" daughters. With all her heart, Pearl loved her family friends Emily & HN McElroy, Laneille Dewveall and Karen Abramski. The family of Pearl Fincher extends grateful appreciation to Odyssey Hospice of Conroe, and extends special thanks to the amazing nurses Kathy, Pamela, Kim and Holly.
