		<description><![CDATA[The Evening Lecture Series is generously supported by Heritage Auction Galleries. &#160; The Creators of Persistent Visions of Sound John O&#8217;Dell and Scott Richards Thursday, February 25, 2010, 6:30pm The Evening Lecture Series will feature John O&#8217;Dell and Scott Richards, aka Roarshak vs. Insula, on Thursday, February 25 at 6:30pm.Richards and O&#8217;Dell are the creators of a new original short film, Persistent Visions of Sound. Stills from the film are on display in the Community Gallery through February 28. The program will begin with the screening of the film, followed by a Q&#38;A with the creators. A reception will follow in the museum lobby. &#160; Kurt D. Voss Author of Images of America: Galveston&#8217;s The Elissa  Thursday, March 25, 2010, 6:30pm The Pearl is proud to welcome Kurt Voss, author of Images of America: Galveston&#8217;s The Elissa, courtesy of the Texas Seaport Museum. In 2009, Galveston Historical Foundation and Arcadia Publishing released the new illustrated book on Elissa as a part of a series of the history of the island. Kurt Voss, the former director of the Texas Seaport Museum, chronicles the 132-year history of the Elissa, including 200 vintage images related to the vessel. Mr. Voss has been involved with the restoration and health of the ship since 1980. Reception will follow the lecture in the Museum Lobby, where autographed copies of the new book will be available. &#160; LaVerne Britt President and Family Historian for the Wilson Pottery Foundation Thursday, April 15, 6:30pm LaVerne Britt is the current president of the Wilson Pottery Foundation, which promotes the history and heritage of the Wilson Potters of Seguin, Texas and their descendants. Ms. Britt is the great great granddaughter of Hiram Wilson, the patriarch of the Wilson family and founder of the Wilson Pottery.  Ms. Britt has served as the Wilson Family Historian and chairs the Family Reunion Historical Committee. The descendants of Hiram, James, and Wallace Wilson number over 1,000. She acquired multiple grants to preserve Wilson family historical sites from the Texas Historical Commission. She currently resides in San Antonio, Texas. &#160; The Runge/Howard Collection Thom Andriola of New Gallery Thursday, June 3, 6:30pm The Evening Lecture Series is pleased to present a gallery talk with Thom Andriola, owner of New Gallery, on Thursday, June 3 at 6:30pm. <p>Gallop over to the Pearl for an evening with local artist and long-time friend of the Pearl, Lesley Humphrey.  As the official 2011 Kentucky Derby artist, Lesley will be sharing stories whilst taking us on a visual tour of her exciting, artistic adventure with slideshow and original art. Learn of the inspirations that informed the Derby 137 paintings, the horses and trainers, the incredible ups and downs the artist faced. See the artwork that captured the hearts and souls of people the world over in the concurrent Community Gallery exhibition. All are welcome.  Ladies are encouraged to wear their hats!</p>
