This spring, Teen Art Workshop for ages 12 and up will include four classes held monthly on certain Saturday mornings from 10:30am-12:00pm. The class dates are February 2, March 2, March 30, and April 20, 2013. Each Saturday will feature a different project related to the artwork on display, especially our spring exhibition Mesmerize. Tuition includes all the supplies to complete the projects and 6 hours of art instruction.

Aspen Tree Palette Knife Painting
Saturday, February 2

Inspired by the work of Memphis Yin on display in the Hillery Community Gallery, teens will paint use bold, expressionistic strokes of color to paint an Aspen Tree.
Hand Casting
Saturday, March 2
10:30am-12:00pm
During this class, teens will cast their own hands in plaster. Artist Katherine Taylor sculpted her own foot, which is an important component of her work on display in Mesmerize.
Hand Casting Painting
Saturday, March 30
10:30am-12:00pm
Inspired by the dynamic patterns of artist Merrie Wright, the students will paint their hand casts.
Fimo-Covered Glass Sculptures
Saturday, April 20
10:30am-12:00pm
Using a glass as a foundation, teens will create fanciful appendages with Fimo clay inspired by the altered cups and plates of Tsehai Johnson.
